COVID-19, Protection and Prevention Steps

COVID-19 Prevention and Safety

As your trusted local cleaning experts for 75 years, Peerless Cleaning & Restoration would like to share steps you can take to help lower your risk, potentially prevent exposure, slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

What we do know so far is that the virus is spread through close contact of respiratory droplets from infected persons. Respiratory droplets are produced when a person coughs, sneezes, or other discharge. These droplets can be contracted through the air and potentially from surface to surface contact that returns to the mouths or noses of others.

So how can we help protect ourselves and others from contracting this illness? Here are a few steps you can take help.

Steps to help protect yourself

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Clean and disinfect touchpoints (frequently touched surfaces)
    • Touchpoints include doorknobs, tables, light switches, phones, keyboards, toilets, sinks, etc…
    • Clean first with soap/detergent, then disinfect.
    • See our article about proper touchpoint cleaning
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth if you haven’t washed your hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who may have been at risk of exposure.

Steps to help protect others

  • If you believe you are sick, or may have been exposed, stay home and follow the CDC’s guide for what to do if you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and immediately throw the tissue away after use.
    • If a tissue is not available, use the inside of your elbow.
  • Immediately wash your hands after coughing/sneezing to help prevent spreading
  • Clean and disinfect touchpoints (frequently touched surfaces)

There is no guarantee that we will not be affected by the recent outbreak. However, we can be smart and take precautions to help prevent and slow the spread of the virus.
